It’s Going to Get Weirder: The Terence McKenna Story is the first feature length documentary about the famed seeker, storyteller and cultural provocateur Terence McKenna. In development and production since 2000, this film explores his little-known origin story and examines why the late psychedelic philosopher is more relevant than ever, 25 years after his passing. There are many layers to the Terence McKenna story, many of which have been unexplored. This documentary reveals new points of view and insights about the person behind some of the most important contributions to psychedelics, philosophy and language in the last century. Both personal and objective, this film seeks to answer two simple questions: who was Terence McKenna as a human, and what is his true legacy?

A significant portion of this project has been filmed, including new and archival interviews and commentary from several of McKenna's contemporaries, friends, relatives and colleagues. Sharon McKenna is Terence McKenna's first cousin. Her background includes documentary and narrative filmmaking, arts and environmental journalism, and screenwriting.

Declan McKenna is an experimental filmmaker and stop-motion animator.
He worked at LAIKA animation studios on their upcoming stop-motion film WILDWOOD.
